Words From Our Families
Honest reflections from families who have entrusted Ashford with the care of someone they love.
What Families Are Saying

My mother has been at Ashford for almost a year now, and it has honestly been a weight off our shoulders. She is eating better, sleeping better, and actually looks forward to the afternoon teas. The staff remember her preferences and treat her like a person, not a patient. We visit every weekend and there is always something positive to hear.

My father stayed at Ashford for five weeks after his hip surgery. The physio sessions were helpful, and the weekly reports they sent us were detailed enough that we always felt informed. The only reason I am not giving five stars is that the location is a bit far from us β but the quality of care made the journey worthwhile.

My aunt joined the Culinary Heritage Programme and it has given her something to look forward to every week. She talks about the recipes she made and the people she met. For someone who was becoming quite withdrawn, this has been a real turnaround. Thank you, Ashford.

What mattered most to us was that the food was halal and that our mother's cultural practices would be respected. Ashford has been wonderful in that regard. The kitchen team even prepared her favourite kueh for Hari Raya. Small gestures like that mean the world to a family.

My father-in-law is quite particular about his space and his routine, and the team at Ashford has been very patient with him. They give him the time he needs and never make him feel rushed. The room is comfortable and clean, and the nursing check-ins happen without being intrusive. A decent place overall.

After trying two other care homes that felt too clinical, we found Ashford and the difference was clear from day one. My grandmother is happier here. She enjoys the film evenings and has made friends with two other residents. The staff genuinely know her β they know her stories, her likes. It does not feel like a facility. It feels like a home.

Stories of Progress
Real examples of how our programmes have supported residents on their individual journeys.
The Challenge
Mrs Ong, 82, was discharged from hospital after a fall that resulted in a fractured wrist and significant loss of confidence. Her family was concerned about her ability to manage daily tasks at home alone during recovery.
The Approach
Mrs Ong joined Ashford's Convalescence Stay for six weeks. Her recovery plan included gentle physiotherapy three times a week, nutritional support to aid bone healing, and social activities to rebuild her confidence gradually.
The Outcome
After six weeks, Mrs Ong regained functional use of her wrist and was walking independently with greater steadiness. She returned home with a home exercise plan and continued attending the Culinary Heritage Programme twice a week.
The Challenge
Mr Krishnan, 78, had become increasingly withdrawn after the passing of his wife. His daughter noticed he was eating less, sleeping poorly, and losing interest in the activities he once enjoyed.
The Approach
Mr Krishnan moved into Ashford's residential programme. His care plan focused on gentle social reintegration through afternoon teas, film evenings, and one-on-one conversations with caregivers. Meals were adapted to his South Indian dietary preferences.
The Outcome
Over the course of three months, Mr Krishnan regained his appetite, began attending group activities regularly, and formed a friendship with another resident who shares his love of Tamil cinema. His daughter says he seems more like himself again.
