Our Story, Our Purpose
Ashford was founded on a simple belief: that every senior deserves to live with comfort, dignity, and companionship.
About Ashford
Ashford began in 2009 as a small, family-run initiative in Singapore's Choa Chu Kang neighbourhood. The founders — a daughter-and-son pair who had spent years navigating care options for their ageing parents — saw a gap between clinical efficiency and genuine warmth. Most care homes at the time felt institutional. They wanted something different: a place where residents could feel that their individuality mattered, where staff knew each person by name, and where the daily rhythm was shaped by comfort rather than routine alone.
What started with eight residents in a converted bungalow has grown steadily, but the guiding principle has stayed the same. Every decision — from the ratio of caregivers to residents, to the selection of linens in each suite — reflects a commitment to thoughtful, attentive living. Ashford has never aimed to be the largest care home in Singapore. Instead, we have focused on being the one that families feel most at ease with.
Over the years, we have expanded our services to include convalescence stays for post-surgical recovery and a well-loved Culinary Heritage Programme that brings seniors together over shared meals rooted in Singapore's food traditions. These programmes were added not for the sake of growth, but because our residents and their families asked for them — and we listened.
Today, Ashford serves families across Singapore with a team of nursing professionals, physiotherapists, nutritional advisors, and a warm support staff who genuinely care about the people they look after. We are not a hospital. We are a home.

Our Standards of Care
We hold ourselves to a high standard — not because regulations require it, but because the people we serve deserve it.
MOH Licensed Facility
Ashford operates under a licence issued by the Ministry of Health, Singapore. Our facility and processes are regularly inspected and comply with national standards for residential care homes.
Staff Qualifications
Every member of our nursing and caregiving team holds recognised qualifications. Ongoing training in elderly-specific care, fall prevention, and dementia awareness is part of our staff development programme.
Safety Protocols
Fire safety, emergency evacuation drills, and round-the-clock monitoring systems are in place. Our facility is designed with wide corridors, non-slip surfaces, and accessible washrooms throughout.
Nutrition Standards
All meals are planned with input from a nutritional advisor. We accommodate a wide range of dietary needs — halal, vegetarian, diabetic-friendly, and texture-modified — with cultural sensitivity at the heart of every menu.
Privacy & Data Protection
We comply with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). All resident and family information is handled with strict confidentiality and stored securely.
Family Partnership
We maintain open communication channels with every resident's family. Regular updates, care conferences, and an open-door visitation policy ensure families remain integral to the care process.
Our Values and Approach
At Ashford, we believe that the quality of elderly care is defined not by grand gestures, but by the small, consistent acts of attention that make a person feel seen. It is in the way a caregiver remembers how a resident takes their morning tea, the patience shown during a slow walk through the garden, or the quiet reassurance offered during a difficult day. These moments, taken together, form the foundation of trust between our team and the people we care for.
Our approach to senior care draws on both clinical best practice and the cultural richness of Singapore. In a country where family ties run deep and food is a shared language, we honour these values by welcoming families into our daily life and by crafting meals that reflect the traditions residents grew up with. Peranakan, Chinese, Malay, and Indian culinary traditions all have a place in our kitchen — because food is as much about memory and identity as it is about nutrition.
We are also committed to continuous learning. The field of geriatric care is evolving, and our team stays current through workshops, conferences, and professional development. We encourage feedback from families, listen to our residents, and adjust our practices based on what we learn. Ashford is not a static institution — it is a living community that grows alongside the people within it.
